ITHACA, N.Y. – After defeating St. Bonaventure in its season opener, the Cornell women's swimming and diving team will turn its attention to Harvard and Dartmouth as the Big Red prepares for its first Ivy League tri-meet on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at Ithaca College's Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium in Ithaca, N.Y.

Last Time Out:

In its first competition since the 2019-20 season, the Big Red returned to the water on a high note, downing St. Bonaventure, 144-92, in its season opener on Nov. 6. The win marked the program's fifth-straight victory over the Bonnies.

Cornell recorded seven individual event wins on the day en route to the team victory, including a pair of wins for Demetra Williams in the 1-meter (244.80) and 3-meter (267.98) diving events. Cornell capitalized in the freestyle events, as a Big Red swimmer placed first in the 100 (Priscilla Wongso, 52:26), 200 (Melissa Parker, 1:55.42), 500 (Schuyler DuPont, 5:13.31), and 1,000 (Allie Danko, 10:30.54) freestyle events.

The Series vs. Dartmouth:

The Big Red has had success against the Big Green over the years, holding a 24-13 advantage over Dartmouth dating back to 1982-83. Cornell has won four of the last six meetings between the two schools, but the Big Green has had the Big Red's number as of late, winning the last two matchups, including a 169-131 victory over Cornell during the 2019-20 season.

The Series vs. Harvard:

Harvard holds a commanding series lead over the Big Red, as Cornell's lone dual-meet win over the Crimson came during the 1983-84 season. Since then, Harvard has won 35 consecutive meetings, most recently a 201-94 victory against the Big Red during the 2019-20 campaign.

The Last Time vs. Dartmouth and Harvard:

Allison Chang was among the top swimmers for the Big Red at the 2019-20 tri-meet, finishing second in the 200-IM (2:11.41) and adding a third-place finish in the 200-breaststroke (2:23.61). Aviva Munoz (2:07.54) and Alexandra Handlin (2:08.02) found success in the 200-backstroke, both notching top-five finishes and placing third and fourth, respectfully, in the event.

In the diving events, Demetra Williams came through for Cornell, winning the 3-meter (249.20) and finishing second in the 1-meter (278.95). Elise Jendritz also had a solid day, placing third in the 1-meter (251.90) and fourth in the 3-meter (230.60).
