ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's basketball team's game at Central New York rival Syracuse has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Dome. The game was originally slated to be played on Dec. 21.
The 126th matchup between the programs will have a new wrinkle in 2021-22 - the presence of former Cornell leading scorer
Jimmy Boeheim in an SU uniform. Boeheim, who will play for his Hall of Fame coaching father and namesake Jim and with brother Buddy, will play a final season as a graduate transfer for the Orange.
Jimmy Boeheim averaged 16.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.7 steals per game as a junior in the 2019-20 campaign, finishing fifth in the Ivy League in scoring and 10th in rebounding.
The Orange holds a commanding 94-31 edge in the all-time series and has won 40 consecutive matchups with the Big Red dating back to the 1968-69 season. The last meeting came in November 2019, a 72-53 Syracuse triumph.
Jimmy Boeheim scored 25 points and Cornell trailed by just one at the break (26-25), but the home team pulled away after halftime to remain unbeaten against the Big Red all-time at the Carrier Dome.
