ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell volleyball team lost in straight sets to Yale, who sits top of the Ivy League at 11-1. The Big Red attack was led by senior outside hitter
Joanna Chang, who tallied a team-high 11 kills.
Cornell controlled almost all of set one, leading up until point 22. The Big Red opened with a 5-2 run over the Bulldogs, powered by two kills from Chang. Cornell led by as many as six in the set, following a
Jackie Baker ace at 13-7 which forced a Yale timeout. The Bulldogs climbed back to tie the set at 21 and again at 22, taking their first lead of the set at 23-22, and going on to seal set one 25-23.
Set two opened with a 7-3 Yale run. Two of the three Cornell points were attributed to kills by senior setter
Emma Worthington. The Big Red battled back to be within one point seven time during the set, but could never get over the hump. 17-16 was the last score line where. Cornell was within one following a Yale service error. The Bulldogs then began to pull away and won set two, 25-18.
Yale opened with five straight points in set three before Cornell got on the board. The Big Red fought for a. 6-5 run. to. trail 10-6, but Yale only built its lead, winning set three 25-15.

Cornell volleyball take a road trip next weekend to Princeton and Penn. The Big Red plays at Princeton with a first serve at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 7 followed by a 5 p.m. match against Penn on Saturday, October 8. Both matches will be available to stream via ESPN+.
