ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's swim and dive had a record setting weekend as the team moves to 4-1 in competitions with a sweep over Penn and Princeton. The Big Red defeated Penn 190-108, and Princeton 179-121. Cornell tallied at least one top-3 finisher in 13 of 16 events, including two 1-2-3 finishes, and pool records in 400 yard Freestyle Relay and 200 yard Medley Relay.
Cornell opened the first event of the day with a 1-2 finish in the 200 yard Medley Relay.
Marie Williams,
Sophia Tsai,
Anna Gruvberger, and
Joelle Ohr tallied second in the event with a time of 1:44.37. Nearly two seconds ahead was Aviva Munoz,
Amy Wu,
Emilie Boisrenoult,
Priscilla Wongso, who touched the wall at 1:42.47, clocking a pool record in Teagle.
Cornell finished 1-2 in the 200 yard Freestyle with
Melissa Parker and
Kate Li tallying 1:49.32 and 1:51.96 times, respectively.
In the next event, the 100 yard Backstroke, a third 1-2 finish on the day for the Red by Munoz and Tsai only added to the Big Red lead on the day.
The first Cornell 1-2-3 win came in the 100 yard breaststroke by Boisrenoult, Wu, and
Quinn Rinkus who all finished within one second of each other. Boisrenoult finished over two seconds ahead of the Princeton swimmer who finished fourth.
Two events later, the Cornell tallied its second 1-2-3 finish with Wongso, Parker, and Ohr touched the wall at 22.93, 23.28, and 23.74, respectively, in the 50 yard Freestyle.
Parker and Wongso also placed 1-2 in the 100 yard Freestyle. Parker tallied a time of 50.44, while Wongso finished at 50.77.
In the 200 yard Backstroke, Cornell tallied yet another 1-2 finish whem Munoz and
Marie Williams each finished nearly three seconds ahead of the Princeton swimmer who tallied third.
Boisrenoult finished atop the podium in one more race, finishing the 100 yard Butterfly in 55.27 seconds.
Saturday concluded with a pool and school record for the Big Red in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay. Boisrenoult, Wongso,
Kate Li, and Parker all combined for a time of 3:22.80, a time nearly five seconds ahead of the second place finishers.
On Friday,
Elise Jendritz claimed the top spot in the 3 mtr Dive with 279.20 points.
