Lucija Ruzevic and
Lauren Ehnot placed sixth and seventh for the Janet Lutz Trophy as the two-day national singehanded championship regatta played out at Old Dominion. In a field of 19 of the top sailors in the country, the duo combined for 12 top five race finishes.
Ruzevic (98) edged out teammate Ehnot (102) for sixth place, climbing from ninth to her final spot thanks to her consistency, finishing in the top half of the standings in 12 of the weekend's 14 races. Ruzevic grabbed fifth place in 2021 as a sophomore. Ehnot had the higher highs, winning two races with a runner-up effort with half of her placements in the top four in her first appearance at nationals.
The Big Red will return to competition this spring.
