AKRON, Ohio -- The Cornell men's and women's swim and dive teams each tallied strong runs in day two of the Zippy Invite. 12 athletes finished top three or better in their heat.
On the men's side, Cornell placed 2, 4, 5 in the 500 yard Freestyle A-Final, led by senior
Chris Kostelni who touched the wall at 4:26.95.
Dominic Edwards finshed third in the B-Final of the same event, and
Vlad Gilszmer wrapped up first in the C-Final. Sophomore Sebatian Wolff earned second in the 200 yard IM A-Final, while
Daniel Simoes and
Pietro Ubertalli each claimed third in the B-Final and C-Final of the same event, respectively. The Big Red finished 1-2 in the B-Final of the 50 yard Freestyle thanks to a 20.34 second swim by
Will Taner and a 20.39 second swim by Jeremy Marc.n.
Pearce Bailey finished second in the C-Final of the 50 yard.
Soodong Kim finished third in the 3 meter dive. The men's effort promoted the team to second out of five, up from yesterday's third place finish.
Kate Li and
Ella Martinez finished 1-2 in the C-Final of the 200 yard IM, but the Big Red women's effort was highlighted by the 400 yard Medley Relay team of Aviva Munoz,
Amy Wu,
Emilie Boisrenoult, and
Priscilla Wongso who touched the wall at 3:43.41, a school record for Cornell. The women's team held strong at the fifth place spot they opened at after yesterday.
