ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman
Lan Mi won in singles and doubles for a second straight day, and the women's tennis team took Dartmouth down to the wire in a 4-3 loss on Sunday at Reis Tennis Center. The result means Cornell will finish the ECAC Indoor Championships in eighth place.
Cornell (0-5) got the day started with a dramatic winning of the doubles point. After the teams split the first two doubles matches, the third went to a lengthy tiebreaker that Mi and senior
Valerie Ho won.
The Big Red carried that momentum into singles, where straight-set victories from Mi and senior
Katherine Nguyen at the top two positions, brought the hosts to a 3-1 lead. Seventh-seeded Dartmouth rallied from there, forcing and then winning the third sets of the final two matches.
Cornell is back in action at noon Sunday, when it travels to Binghamton for a neutral-site match against Boston College.
