Ivy Championships Continue for Women’s Swimming and Diving

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2022 Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championships continued for Cornell on Thursday, with B Final appearances from Melissa Parker, Elise Jendritz, and Demetra Williams highlighting the second day of action for the Big Red at Harvard's Blodgett Pool.

Parker made the B Final of the 50 freestyle, finishing 11th overall in 23.30. Sophomores Priscilla Wongso (23.57) and Anna Gruvberger (23.94) both qualified for the C Final, placing 19th and 24th, respectively.

Jendritz and Williams both made the consolation final of the 1-meter diving, with Jendritz as Cornell's top finisher in the event. Jendritz's 261.55 points was not only good for 11th overall, but improves her to second all-time in Cornell history in the event. Williams placed 14th with 245.40 points.

The Big Red had a pair of swimmers make the C Final of the 200 IM, with sophomores Olivia Sutter (2:03.80) and Marie Williams (2:04.56) finishing one after another in 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Sutter's time ranks sixth all-time in the Big Red record books, while Williams' time of 2:03.92 from prelims sits seventh on Cornell's all-time top-10 list.

Through two days of action, Cornell sits in eighth place with 191 points. Day three of the 2022 Ivy Championships will get under way tomorrow at 11 a.m. with prelims of various events. Finals will follow at 6 p.m.
