ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women's polo team will return to action Friday, Feb. 25 to take on Kentucky at 7 p.m. at the Oxley Equestrian Center in Ithaca, N.Y.

LAST TIME OUT:

The Big Red continued its winning ways in its last outing on Feb. 12, dominating visiting UMass, 27-5. Cornell jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Minutewomen 12-0 in the first chukker. The early offensive barrage was fueled by Lea Jih-Vieira and Rachel Booth, who combined for 11 of Cornell's 12 points in the first period of play. Several new faces contributed to Cornell's convincing win, as Meghan Raucher tallied her first five points of the season and Ella de Bruijn added four points in her season debut.

ON A TEAR:

The Cornell women's polo team has settled in as of late and found its groove, as the Big Red heads into Friday's matchup against Kentucky with an 8-6 record, having won each of its last three contests. The Big Red's last three wins have come against Michigan State on Dec. 3, the Central New York Polo Club on Feb. 4, and UMass on Feb. 12. During its win streak, the Big Red has outscored opponents 61-17 and has won its last two outings by double-digit margins.

AGAINST KENTUCKY:

Cornell has faced Kentucky eight times over the last decade, winning six of those contests. In the two teams' last meeting during the 2019-20 season, Cornell defeated Kentucky, 13-7, at the Oxley Equestrian Center.

OFFENSIVE FRENZY:

In its last two contests, the Big Red has unleashed a potent offensive attack, posting consecutive games with over 20 points for the first time this season. These scoring outbursts have been total team efforts, as every Cornell student-athlete that suited up in the win over the Central New York Polo Club scored at least three points and five different Cornell student-athletes scored at least four goals in the win over UMass.
