Jensen Delivers Three Hits, But Baseball Falls at Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Max Jensen was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored on Saturday, but the baseball team was defeated by Virginia, 17-2, in the middle game of a three-game set on Saturday at Disharoon Park.

Virginia (6-0) took control of the game with seven runs in the second inning, then expanded the lead 14 before Cornell (0-2) was able to get on the board.

Senior Lachlan Charles scored the Big Red's first run after getting aboard via leadoff walk in the sixth, then he drove in Jensen with a one-out double in the seventh. Matt Barnhorst had the other hit for Cornell, and junior Wils Guy worked out three walks on the day.

Sophomore Franco Alonso recorded the final eight outs in scoreless long relief for the Big Red.
