ALFRED, N.Y. -- The Cornell equestrian team was high point earner for the fourth straight show, easily besting the competition at Alfred en route to claiming the Regional championship. In its eight shows this season, Cornell has been high-point team seven times and reserve high point team the other.
The day featured strong point rider performances from senior
Annaliese Hines, who was fourth in Open Fences and second in Open Flat, as well as junior Sasha Miranda who claimed the ribbon in Intermediate Fences. Senior
Liza Pacchiana placed first in Intermediate Flat, freshman
Jillian Steinmetz took first in Limit fences, and sophomores
Emily Pecsok (Novice Flat) and
Lauren Reeves (Intro) also won their events. Freshman
Taylor Haines scored with a fifth in the Limit Flat,
In addition, Cornell owned the Intro category as three riders in the two Intro classes won both (other win coming from senior
Amanda Lazar), while junior Claudia Arredando took second to her teammate.
Senior Cat Thrasher added a win in Limit Flat, junior
Ashley Ardila got her first win in Pre-Novice, senior captain
Talia Aley continued her win streak in Limit Flat.
The Big Red has qualified eight riders to next weekend's Regional Championship at the Oxley Equestrian Center.

The top two in each class advance on to Zones, and with the Regional Championship, Cornell will have a chance to compete for a spot at Nationals on April 9 at St. Lawrence.
