ITHACA, N.Y. – For the first time in over two months, the Cornell women's polo team will return to the arena to face the Central New York Polo Club on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Oxley Equestrian Center in Ithaca, N.Y.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Big Red utilized a balanced scoring attack to edge visiting Michigan State, 13-7, on Dec. 3 at the Oxley Equestrian Center. Seven different Cornell student-athletes contributed goals in the victory, with
Rachel Booth and
Sophia Neis leading the charge with three goals apiece.
Alice Buckley,
Katherine Cornett, and
Kathleen Clifford all made their season debut for the Big Red in the win.
SO FAR THIS SEASON:
Cornell holds a 6-6 record heading into Friday's rematch with the Central New York Polo Club, collecting wins against White Winter Farm on Oct. 15, Colorado State on Oct. 20, the Central New York Polo Club on Oct. 22, UConn on Nov. 13, Southern Methodist on Nov. 19, and, most recently, Michigan State on Dec. 3.
AGAINST CENTRAL NEW YORK POLO CLUB:
Cornell and the Central New York Polo Club have faced off seven times since the 2014-2015 season, with Cornell winning five of those matchups. In the two teams' last meeting that took place earlier this season, the Big Red knocked off the Central New York Polo Club by a score of 16-7 on Oct. 22 in Ithaca, N.Y.
STRINGING THEM TOGETHER:
The Big Red are looking to win consecutive games for the first time since October, when they defeated White Winter Farm on Oct. 15 and Colorado State on Oct. 20.
