Ivy Season Commences For Women's Lax At #10 Princeton

STORY LINES

• The Cornell women's lacrosse team will have a chance to open its 2022 Ivy League campaign with a bang when it meets preseason conference favorite Princeton on Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
• The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
• Cornell will be attempting to bounce back after suffering its first loss of the season, a 20-11 decision at the hands of Penn State this past Saturday at Schoellkopf Field.
• The Nittany Lions broke open a one-goal game at the break, outscoring the Big Red 11-3 after halftime.
• Goalkeeper Katie McGahan, one of two graduate student captains for the Big Red, is averaging 12.29 goals against and sports a .492 save percentage.
• She enters the weekend fifth on the school's saves list  (320) and fourth in career wins (20).
• The offense is averaging 14.3 goals per game this season.
• Sophomore Maggie Pons leads a balanced offensive attack for the Big Red, posting a team-high four assists and 10 points.
• Seven different Cornell players have at least three goals and five players have recorded between six and 10 points.
• The Big Red dominated the draw during 2020's COVID-shortened season, winning 60 percent of the starts, but is winning just 43 percent of the draws so far this year.

• Junior Annie Thomas is two draw wins shy of 50.
• Senior Shannon Brazier is nine draw controls from 50 for her career.
