Lightweight Rowing Competes At Ithaca College Duals On Saturday

3/30/2022 10:00:00 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell lightweight rowing team kicks off a much-anticipated 2022 spring campaign with competitive racing at the Ithaca College Duals on Saturday, April 2 on Cayuga Lake. The Big Red will race against the Bombers, as well as Hobart and Bucknell out of the Inlet.

After having its spring 2020 and 2021 seasons wiped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Big Red is eager to get back to form. Its last spring race came in May 2019 when the team won the IRA national title - its fourth since 2014. Cornell topped Princeton by the length of a deck, just over 0.4 seconds.

When the Big Red takes the water, it will do so after racing at the Head of the Charles and the Princeton Chase, finishing second in both. It place just behind Yale on the Charles and Navy at Princeton.
