Men's Track & Field Puts Up Big Marks, Event Wins At Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's track & field team won 14 total events in a dominating effort at Tuesday's CNY College Challenge at Cortland.

• Cornell claimed the 4x100 relay with Kuune Mini, Domenic Barresi, Tomas Kersulis, Angus Dove finishing in 41.13, just ahead of Cortland (42.00).
Alec Hill led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1,500 meters in 3:58.38, with the sophomore crossing the tape ahead of Pelham Beresen (4:04.02) and Teddy O'Kane (4:05.24).
• Freshman Fabien DeSilva claimed first in the 400 meters in 49.10.
• Sophomore Semi Robertson's time of 11.10 in the 100 meters clipped Ithaca's Aaron Davis by .21 at the line, while his 22.35 in the 200 meters was .08 ahead of Cortland's Coltra Goring.
• The Big Red had the top four finishers and six of the top seven in the 800 meters with freshman Brady Shute first in 1:53.70, more than a second ahead of sophomore Sam Young (1:54.88).
Christian Martin claimed a title in the 400 hurdles (55.05).
• In the field, Ian Frost led a 1-2-3 sweep in the hammer with his toss of 59.94 (No. 8 all-time at Cornell) with five of his final six throws over 59.0m.
• Frost also was second to teammate Brad Morell in the discus, with the sophomore's top throw of 50.75m (166-6) a full 28 feet further than the field.
• Morell won the shot put with a 16.39m toss, as the 53-9 1/4 throw was more than 11 feet beyond the next best mark.
• Jemaur Williamson (14.03m, 46-0 1/2) and Jelani Williams (13.60m, 44-7 1/2) took first and second in the triple jump.
• Junior Charles Smith took both the high jump (2.00m, 6-6 3/4) and long jump (7.10m, 23-3 1/2) crowns.
• Senior Johannes Stromhaug (5.05m, 16-6 3/4), junior Dylan Rodgers (4.95m, 16-2 3/4) and Shane Racey (4.80m, 15-9) took the top three spots on the podium in the pole vault, with Stromhaug's mark the eighth-best in school history.

A number of Cornell athletes will compete at the historic Penn Relays beginning on Thursday, April 28 at Franklin Field.
