ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's heavyweight rowing team swept past Oregon State on Friday afternoon on Cayuga Lake, winning all three varsity races on the choppy Inlet. THe Big Red will race for the Madeira Cup tomorrow at 7 a.m. against Penn, then will race Georgetown at 11 a.m.
The Big Red won its first and third varsity eight races by at least 10 seconds, and the second varsity by 9.9 to best the Beavers, who came into the weekend ranked No. 17 nationally. The third varsity took it to Oregon State, posting a win by 20 seconds to round out the afternoon. The Big Red's fourth and fifth boats put up times that would have bested OSU's No. 2 entry as both outdueled Penn's No. 3 varsity boat in a separate start.
