ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sydney Beers qualified for Sunday's individual event finals on vault and floor and will be joined by Kate Michelini (bars) and Miranda Lund (floor) as Cornell finished fourth in Friday's evening session at the 2022 USAG Collegiate Nationals at Newman Arena. The Big Red's 192.050 team score was its second-highest of the season, but wasn't enough to qualify for Saturday's team finals.

The Big Red shot out of the gate with a 48.550 on vault to sit third after the first rotation with Beers scoring a 9.800 as the anchor. Three rotations later, her score was tied for fourth and advanced her on to Sunday, where she will compete for All-America honors and a national title. 
 
Michelini tied for fifth on bars with her 9.775 score as the lone Big Red gymnast in the top 10 in the event. The Big Red's 47.150 was its lowest event score as a team, dropping Cornell to fourth and never recovering from the hole. Beam wasn't much better, as its 47.375 was highlighted by a big 9.800 by Beers, who will be an alternate to event finals after taking seventh. 

Bouyed by two finalists and four individuals in the top seven, Cornell posted the highest team score on floor in its final rotation with a 48.975 - just off the school record of 49.125 at the 2018 USAG semifinals.  Beers and Lund tied for third with 9.825's, with both Michelini and Victoria DeMeo scoring dual 9.8's to tie for seventh.

The Big Red's qualifying gymnasts will compete on Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at Newman Arena. The team finals will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. and will feature Air Force (194.550) and Lindenwood (193.800) from Session I and Brown (194.425) and Texas Woman's (194.700) from Session II.
