Seven Newcomers Ready To Join Women's Hockey For 2022-23 Season

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women's hockey team has announced seven additions to its roster for the 2022-23 season. Doug Derraugh '91, the Everett Family Head Coach of Women's Ice Hockey who has led the Big Red to the NCAA tournament in eight of its last 12 seasons, announced the additions on Wednesday. Below are bios for each of the newcomers.
 

Avi Adam

• Won gold at the 2022 World U18 Championships as part of Team Canada.
• Won the provincial championship in 2022 with the Etobicoke Dolphins of the OWHL.
• Played four seasons with Team Nova Scotia, including two years with the U18 team.
• Captained the team for the 2019 Atlantic Challenge Cup.
• Chosen to compete at the U18 Hockey Canada Women's selection camp in Calgary, Alberta in 2021.
• Competed in the Canada Games for Nova Scotia and nationals with Team Atlantic in 2019.
• Also played soccer and golf, competing provincially for gold each season on the links.
• Won district and regional titles and advanced to the provincial championships in the 400m, 800m, 4x100 and 4x400 relays in track and field.
 

Caroline Chan

• Invited to Hockey Canada's U18 Summer Development and Selection camps while playing for the Brampton Junior Cadettes.
• Competed in the Ontario Summer Games for the Team Ontario U16 and U18 teams.
• Played two seasons of hockey while attending St. Marcellinus Secondary School, serving as assistant captain in 2021-22.
 

Grace Dwyer

• Won silver with Team USA at the World U18 Championships while attending Harriton HS and playing for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers Ice Hockey team.
• Won a pair of bronze (2018, 2021) and a silver (2022) medal at USA Hockey Nationals.
• Won league and district titles while playing with the Valley Forge Minutemen.
• Named the Female Athlete of the Year at Harriton HS in 2019.
• Won a state title in lacrosse in 2019, graduating as a three-year starter and letter winner.
 

Sarah MacEachern

• Won gold at the 2022 World U18 Championships as part of Team Canada.
• Won the Ontario CISAA Championship in her final season.
• Female Player of the Year for Hockey PEI and was named the league's top defenseman in 2019-20.
• Won a gold medal with Etobicoke Junior Dolphins at the OWHA Provincial Championships in 2022.
• Captained or co-captained the Prince Edward Island Provincial Soccer team for four seasons. 
 

Alyssa Regalado

• Won gold at the 2022 World U18 Championships as part of Team Canada.
• Won league and provincial titles as a senior assistant captain while suiting up for the Etobicoke Junior Dolphins of the EDGHL.
• Played three seasons of ice hockey at St. Marcellinus Secondary School.
• Two-time Athlete of the Year finalist and team MVP as a senior.
• Won a regional title as a sophomore and reached the finals as a senior.
• Invited to compete at numerous regional, provincial and national team camps.
• Also competed in track and field and cross country.
• Won a regional title in the shot put and was named team MVP as a freshman as her team won the team regional crown.
• Twice part of regional championship cross country squads.
 

Georgia Schiff

• Played at North American Hockey Academy while enrolled at Montpelier HS.
• While playing for the NAHA Major Junior White team, she tallied 29 goals and 40 assists for 69 points in 79 total games.
• Also letter in soccer and tennis.
• Was a two-time all-league selection as a soccer goalkeeper.
• Helped team to a state title in tennis in 2021.
 

McKenna Van Gelder

• Won gold at the 2022 World U18 Championships as part of Team Canada.
• Competed on the boy's high school team at Silverthorn Collegiate Institute.
• Helped the team to a city silver medal in 2020.
• Part of three league champion teams for the Etobicoke Dolphins of the OWHL.
• Captured a pair of provincial titles.
• Four-time captain and two-year alternate captain.
• Also competed in soccer and track and field.
