Zack Stitt, who was part of both the men's and women's coaching staffs at Geneva College, has joined the women's basketball staff at Cornell University it was announced today by
Dayna Smith, the Rebecca Quinn Morgan '60 Head Coach.
Stitt joined the men's basketball staff as an assistant coach in 2017 and was elevated to Associate Head Coach in 2022, adding women's basketball assistant coaching and athletic operations duties in 2020.He helped the 2021-22 men's team to a spot in the NCCAA Midwest Regional as part of a 14-11 season at included a 12-5 mark in the Presidents' Athletic Conference to take fourth - the program's highest finish since joining the league a decade earlier. The team was 22-14 over its last two years under NCCAA Hall of Fame coach Jeff Santarsiero. The 2020 squad advanced to the PAC Championship game for the first time in program history.
He also spent two seasons on the women's basketball staff under Michael Grinder, helping the 2021-22 team to a 10-15 record and an 8-8 conference record, a six-game improvement over its last full season in 2019-20.
While working in athletics operations, Stitt helped run all home athletic competitions, as well as managing facility calendars for practices, games and outside events.
A member of the NABC and WBCA, Stitt began his coaching career under his father, Keith Stitt, at Riverview HS in Oakmont, Pa. He served as the junior varsity coach and as an assistant on the girls varsity where he was responsible for scouting and film exchange, player development and social media.
As a four-year member and three-year letter winner at Geneva, Stitt was a two-year captain and part of a PAC semifinal squad. He earned his degree in Sport Management with a minor in coaching from Geneva in 2017, then earned his Master's in Sport Management with a concentration in intercollegiate athletic administration in 2021 from California (Pa.).
