PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. -- Samuel King took four overall and the Cornell men's golf team put together back-to-back solid rounds to take fifth as a team at the Cornell-Temple Invitational that concluded on Sunday afternoon at the 1912 Club. The Big Red shot a two-round total of 583, 22 shots behind its co-host Owls, but clear of 10 other teams. The Big Red's B team tied for 14th.

King matched par in both rounds for an even 140, climbing four places from his first round placement. Temple's Ethan Whitney shot a 5-under-par 135 to earn medalist honors by three strokes over Rhode Island's Brandon Gillis. That same margin separated the Owls and the Rams on the team scoreboard, as Temple's 282 on Sunday allowed it to inch past URI.

Josh Lundmark and Benjamin Choe answered first round 70s with dual 76s to finish in a tie for 25th. Noah Schwartz rounded out the A team's scoring with a two-day total of 151, including a second round 74. Jackson Debusschere hit for 77 and 77 to grab 69th overall.

The B team shaved 12 strokes off its first round score with a 301 on Sunday, including 73s from both Tyler Zimmer and Weston Warden. Zimmer finished 27th with a two-day score of 147. Warden tied for 67th after shooting a 153, one stoke ahead of Matt Simon (77-77-154). Martin Gutierrez (82-78-160) and Benjamin Schwartz (89-81-170) rounded out the Big Red players in the 84-player field.

As a team, Cornell's high round is a 300 and has put four of five rounds at 297 or below.

The Big Red will return to action when it competes in the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25 at the Montcalm Golf Club in Enfield, N.H.
