ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell took the top two spots at the Top 9/Susan Rogers '75 Memorial Regatta and reached the semifinals of the MAISA Match Race Championship to punctuate another outstanding weekend for Big Red sailing. Cornell has finished no lower than fourth in any of its seven regattas this fall, including five wins.
Cornell easily outdistanced George Washington's two entries to place first and second, with Big Red 1 posting 98 points and Big Red 2 seven points behind its teammates. The winning group featured
Meredith Moran and
J.J. Smith as skippers with
Sophia Mulvania and
Amelia Neumann as crew. Big Red 2 saw
Bridget Green and
Sophia Devling as skippers with
Sophia Pearce and
Sophia Fogarty crewing in A and B division, respectively.
The Big Red went 4-3 in round one of the MAISA Match Race Championship at Kings Point, topping Fordham, Navy, SUNY Maritime and Princeton with defeats at the hands of the other three semifinalists. It then fell in each of the three round two races. The Big Red competed against Merchant Marine Academy in the semifinals, dropping two straight races to close the event in fourth place. Hayden Earl,

Cornell returns to action next weekend when it will split duty at the Women's ACC Semifinals at Harvard and the SUNY Open in Throggs Neck. Racing begins on Saturday, Oct. 8 and continues the following day.
