ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's tennis team opened the 2023 portion of its schedule with a 5-2 loss to Boston University at the Reis Tennis Center on Saturday.

Lan Mi posted a straight-set victory at the top singles spot over Shelly Yaloz, 6-2, 6-2. The other Big Red victory in singles came from Fatima El Ashram at the No. 5 spot over Kaitlin Tan, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

Alexandra Savu battled in three sets against Erica Di Battista at the No. 4 spot. Savu won the opening set, 6-4, before falling in the next two, 6-1, 7-5.

Lauren Stein and Savu were the lone Big Red doubles pairing to post a victory, defeating Michelle Kleynerman and Di Battista, 6-1.

Sofia Iantosca and Mi went to a tiebreak in No. 3 doubles against Victoria Carlsten and Navya Vadlamudi, 7-5(3).
