ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women's tennis team concluded its pair of weekend matches at the Reis Tennis Center on Sunday with a 4-3 loss to NJIT.
Freshmen
Tanya Fan and
Sofia Iantosca combined for a 6-0 victory at the No. 3 doubles spot. Junior
Lauren Stein and sophomore
Alexandra Savu posted their second victory in as many days at the top doubles spot, 6-3, giving the Big Red its first point of the day.
Sophomore
Lan Mi cruised in her singles match at the No. 1 spot against Shivani Ingle, 6-0, 6-3. Freshman
Emma Baker defeated Sandra Dzhambazov, 6-3, 6-4, to give Cornell a 3-0 lead over NJIT.
NJIT concluded the match with four singles victories to give the Highlanders the victory.
Laura Wipfli gave the Highlanders its first point of the day with a straight-set victory over
Alexandra Savu in the No. 4 singles match. The remaining three points for NJIT came in three-set victories.
