SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the year following a 6-1 victory over Cornell at the Drumlins Country Club on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore
Lan Mi was the lone Big Red player to register a victory, as Syracuse's Miyuka Kimoto retired after winning the opening game of the second set. The first set went in favor of Mi, who won by a 6-4 score.
Junior
Lauren Stein and fresman
Emma Baker each battled in their respective matches. Stein fell to Zeynep Erman in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7), while Baker lost 7-5, 6-4.
Senior
Fatima El Ashram and freshmen
Sofia Iantosca and
Tanya Fan also fell in straight sets in their respective singles matches.
In doubles action, Syracuse won all three of the doubles matches while conceding just four games to the Big Red.
Looking Ahead
Cornell will return to action on Saturday morning when it hosts Delaware at the Reis Tennis Center. Doubles matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
