ITHACA, N.Y. — After losing three seniors from last year's group, the Cornell University women's polo team will have a new look when it opens its season against Skidmore College on Friday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
Senior Charlotte Book and juniors Isabella Braden and Ava Ramachandran will lead the Big Red in Anthony Condo's second season as the Peter B. Orthwein `68 Head Coach of Polo. Ramachandran is the most experienced returning player on the roster, as she served as a rotating alternate for the Big Red last season. She scored a goal in the season opener against Skidmore.
In Condo's first season, the Big Red, led by seniors Lea Jih-Vieira and Jasmine Umrigar, went 9-6 last season and reached the national quarterfinals, where it lost to Kentucky.
The Big Red has won three of its last four matches against Skidmore, including an 18-1 victory last year in Saratoga. Cornell took down Skidmore twice during the 2019-20 season, winning those contests 21-7 and 18-5 at the Oxley Equestrian Center.
Friday's meeting will be Cornell's first of two against Skidmore this fall.
