ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell men's heavyweight rowing program concluded its fall season on Saturday competing against crews from Syracuse, Dartmouth, and Ithaca College.
Cornell's second varsity eight and second varsity four each placed second in each event, while the Big Red finished in third place in every other event.
In the varsity eight race, Cornell sent out a fleet of boats and the program's 'A' boat finished fourth overall with a time of 14:11.8. Syracuse's 'A' boat finished first with a time of 13:45.9, which was followed by Dartmouth's 'A' boat (13:55.3) and Syracuse's 'B' shell (14:04.3). Right behind Cornell's 'A' boat was its 'B' crew, who clocked a 14:14.7, which was good for fifth overall and second for the 'B' boats. The Big Red's 'C' crew finished 10th overall (14:44.9) and its 'D' boat placed 12th (15:05.2).
Later in the day, Cornell's 'C' and 'D' boats competed as the program's top two entries in the men's 8+, finishing fourth and sixth. Following the eights, was the 4+, which also had a fleet of fours. Cornell's 'B' boat was the top-finishing crew for the Big Red, placing fifth overall with a time of 16:11.2, which was just over seven seconds behind Syracuse's 'A' boat, which clocked a 16:04.9 time. Rounding out the Big Red entries was Cornell's 'A' boat in ninth place (16:32.6) and was followed by the 'C' crew in 11th (16:40.4) and the 'D' boat in 12th (16:57.5).
