ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell softball kicked off it's weekend slate at the Stetson Classic on Friday with games against Presbyterian and Stetson.
The Big Red took the diamond against undefeated Presbyterian for the first game of their Friday back-to-back. The Blue Hose got off to a fast start with two runs in the first inning of play. Neither team would find home-plate for the remainder of the contest as Cornell would fall 2-0 in the season opener.
One run apiece from
Sydney Stapf and Ceila Macari in the sixth inning was the needed boost to give the Big Red a victory on the back end of a double header against the Hatters.
Mia Burd was credited with the victory on the mound. Burd only allowed five hits on 74 pitches in the contest. She struck out four hitters in the game.
