ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's tennis team was edged by Big Ten foe Indiana, 4-3, on Friday afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center.
Sophomore
Lan Mi, junior
Lauren Stein, and freshman
Emma Baker each claimed victories in the top three singles matches for the Big Red (0-5).
Indiana posted a pair of 6-3 victories in the top two doubles matches to claim the opening point of the day. Mi and freshman
Tanya Fan Mi were the lone Cornell duo to claim victory in doubles action, winning 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.
The Hoosiers claimed a 2-0 lead behind a 6-0, 6-4 victory by Mejic over
Fatima El Ashram.
Stein defeated Nihalani, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 2 spot, and Baker won 6-0, 7-6 (1) in No. 3 singles, drawing the score even at 2-all.
Freshman
Sofia Iantosca and Fan fell at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively, giving the Hoosiers the victory.
Mi closed out her No. 1 singles match with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory.
Looking Ahead
Cornell will return to the court on Sunday when it welcomes Niagara to the Reis Tennis Center. Doubles action is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
