ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team earned a wire-to-wire victory at the Navy Women's Spring Fleet Race to cap off a two-event weekend in Maryland. The Big Red also raced in the St. Mary's Open Team Race, finishing 14th in that format.

Cornell was in first place at Navy by the end of the first rotation and lengthened the lead by the end to 32 points, finishing with 87 to runner-up Charleston's 119. The Big Red claimed the A division title with 27 points and three race wins. Cornell finished none of its 11 races lower than fourth in the 18-team event. Bridget Green and Gabbi DelBello finished six of the 11 races in the top two spots on the ladder. B division sailed Sophia Devling and Amelia Neumann to a consistent third with 60 points, just five points out of the lead, with seven top five finishes and wins in its final two starts of the weekend.

The Big Red was 3-4 in its team racing event on Sunday, earning wins over SUNY Maritime, Hobart & William Smith and Kings Point. Hayden Earl, J.J. Smith and Meredith Moran served as skippers, with Clara Hewson, Sophia Pearce, Adler Weber and Sophia Fogarty making up the crew.

Cornell will close out March with events at Kings Point (Admiral Moore Open Team Race) and Navy (Women's Team Race) on Saturday and Sunday, March 25-26.
