ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell women's polo tallied a second-straight win, its ninth of the season, with a dominant 19-13 victory over the University of Kentucky.
Lea Jih-Vieira led the scoring charge with eight goals.
"This was a great way to close out our home slate for our team, and especially for our group of seniors," said Anthony Condo, the Peter B. Orthwein '68 Head Coach of Polo. "They have all worked so hard this year to improve their offensive game, and I look forward to seeing it all pay dividends next month at the National Championships. I'm a very proud coach this evening."
Kentucky rider Taylor Nackers led the Wildcats with six points.
A pony goal for the Wildcats opened the first chukker, but it was all Big Red to follow.
Jasmine Umrigar tallied the first Cornell points with a rocket from behind the 25-yard line, adding two points. Jih-Vieira scored next, followed by one more from Umrigar. Jih-Vieira closed the first with three straight goals. The Wildcats boasted a 6-2 run in the second chukker, but the Big Red maintained a 9-7 lead at half.
Lara Chong joined the scoring fun in the third chukker with two live-game goals, helping power a 10-6 Cornell stretch across the final two chukkers.
