Pannell, Team USA Win Gold At The 2023 World Lacrosse Championship

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Team USA secured the gold in the 2023 World Lacrosse Championship with a 10-7 win over Canada. Rob Pannell's two assists helped power the red, white, and blue to victory in back-to-back finals wins over the Canadians. Jeff Teat, Clarke Petterson, and the rest of the Canadian National Team earned the silver medal. Teat tallied an assist in the championship game, with Petterson scoring the second Canadian goal in the outing.

The bronze medal was awarded to the Haudenosaunee, which defeated Australia, 11-6, in the third place match this afternoon. Kason Tarbell shot 1.000 for the Haudenosaunee, scoring on the only shot he took. 2023 graduate Tim Graham went 14-of-18 at the faceoff X for Australia and scooped five ground balls.

Italy, which had Big Red men's lacrosse alumni John Piatelli and Christian Pastirik on the roster, defeated Puerto Rico, 10-9, in the ninth place match yesterday. Piatelli scored a buzzer beater to close the first half for the Italians.
