ITHACA, N.Y. -- The second half of the season kicks off for Cornell women's tennis when the team hosts Fordham on Jan. 20 at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y. Matches are set to begin at 12 p.m. The team hits the court following a two and a half month break between the fall and spring seasons. The Big Red and Fordham have never faced off in a dual match.
Freshman
Michelle Ryndin got her collegiate career off to a jump start this fall, securing an 11-2 record across three invitationals and the ITAs. Her two losses on the season came in her first career match in a narrow 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 battle, and in the Round of 32 at the ITA Super Regionals. The Staten Island native has not lost in straight sets so far in her career.
Ryndin is joined by
Victoria Zhao, who advanced to the ITS Super Regional Round of 16 in both doubles and singles. Zhao has posted an 8-3 record in singles after the conclusion of the fall season. Her doubles partner at ITAs,
Jenny Wong, was the third Cornellian to advance to the Super Regionals. The trio matched the most Big Red to advance to the ITA Super Regionals since the United States Tennis Association and the ITA began their alliance in 2021.
Following the contest against the Rams, Cornell stays home to play host to Niagara in the teams' fifth meeting all-time. That match is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 in the Reis Tennis Center.
