SPARKS, Md. -- With lacrosse season right around the corner, the preseason USA Lacrosse Top-20 has been released. Cornell men's lacrosse came in at No. 7. This marks the second consecutive year the Big Red enter the season in the top-10 of the poll after being selected fourth in the 2022 preseason rankings. Cornell is the highest ranked Ivy, and one of four to make the top-20.
The reigning national champion, Notre Dame, ranks atop the list, followed by the three other semifinalists in Duke, Virginia, and Penn State. Maryland, which took a first round exit to Army in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, ranks fifth, followed by Johns Hopkins, which fell to the eventual national champions in the second round.
Men's lacrosse gets its first action of the season on Saturday, Feb. 17 when it hosts Lehigh at Schoellkopf Field. Faceoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
