Game One
The Cornell women's ice hockey team cruised to a 4-1 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies at Medstar Capitals Iceplex on Friday night. The Big Red improved to 11-2-1, while the Tommies dropped to 5-11-0 on the year.
Piper Grober scored the first Big Red goal of her career, accompanied by
Katie Chan,
Avi Adam, and
Izzy Daniel (extended point-streak to 14) who netted the puck as well. Daniel, Grober,

Lily Delianedis (two) earned helpers on the night.
Game Two
The Cornell women's ice hockey team fell to the Minnesota Golden Gophers 5-1 in the final contest of the D1 in DC games at Medstar Capitals Iceplex on Saturday evening. Cornell dropped to 11-3-1, while the Gophers improved to 11-2-0.
Katie Chan registered the lone Big Red goal of the game. The tally was assisted by
Alexa Davis.
The Series
Cornell leads the series with Clarkson, 29-25-6. The squads met five times last year, most recently in an exciting three game ECAC Hockey playoff series where the Golden Knights prevailed in game three to advance to the semifinals.
Cornell leads the the series with St. Lawrence, 45-35-8. The squads split last season with the Big Red taking the first meeting in a barn-burning 7-6 victory, and the Saints taking the latter of the games 3-2 in a match that needed an extra period.
Opponents Breakdown
Clarkson will enter the night with a 18-0-1 record overall. The Golden Knights are on a five game winning-streak and has yet to lose a game all year.
Darcie Lappan (23- 11g, 12a), Nicole Gosling (22- 7g, 15a), Haley Winn (22- 3g, 19a), and Anne Cherkowski (19- 10g, 9a) are at the top of the team's leader board in points. Michelle Pasiechnyk has played in 15 games between the pipes, registering 262 saves and a .942 save percentage.

Daniel ranks first in the nation in assists per game with 1.33, fifth in goals per game with .87 per contest, and first in points per game with 2.20. Chan has exploded onto the scene for the Big Red, currently marking 17th in the nation in goals per game with 0.60. Delianedis has been the anchor to those explosive wingers, collecting 166 wins during her faceoff duties, and lighting the lamp three times during Big Red power-play opportunities.
Rory Guilday - IIHF Rivalry Series
During game one of the 2023 USA vs Canada Rivalry Series, Big Red blue-liner
Rory Guilday fired a deep shot which was collected on a rebound and led to the game-winning-goal in the United States 3-1 victory over Canada. The U.S. also took game two over the Canadians, winning by a count of 5-2 in front of a sell out crowd at Crypto.com Arena.
Game three and four of the series were split by the Americans and the Canadians at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. Team USA claimed game three in OT by a score of 3-2. The Canadians took game four 3-2 in shootouts, which was aided by a clutch Kristin O'Neill assist on the game-tying-goal for Canada.
Goalies By Committee
Annelies Bergmann and
Deanna Fraser have both seen action between the pipes this season. Bergmann has started in 10 games, earning 222 saves (high - 28) with a .910 save percentage. Fraser has started four games, earning 63 saves (high - 23) with a .926 save percentage to go along with a shutout victory over Syracuse.
Patty Kaz Watch
Daniel exploded for a six-point weekend in the opener versus no. 13 Penn State, registering her points on one goal and five assists. She eclipsed her 100th-career point in the process of sweeping the Nittany Lions, and has not slowed down since, now having 132.
Daniel opened the season with a 14-game point-streak, 13 of which the standout Minnesotan scored at least two points. She has earned ECAC Hockey Player of The Week three times this year, as well as ECAC Hockey Player of the Month.
