ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team hosted a two-day dual meet at Teagle Pool against Ivy League foes Harvard and Dartmouth. The Big Red outscored Dartmouth 226.5-73.5. The Harvard Crimson defeated the Big Red 181.5-118.5.
Wes Newman, the The Philip H. Bartels '71 Head Coach of Men's Swimming, was pleased with the effort of his athletes throughout the dual-meet. "Our guys looked sharp both in the pool and on the boards, and I'm happy with how tough they competed. Â For me the best part was how tough they raced and competed here in Teagle Hall", Newman mentioned.
Pietro Ubertalli (first- 48.48 seconds) earned a victory in the 100 yard backstroke.
Haihan Xu (first - 55.22 seconds) and
Connor Brown (second - 55.45 seconds) led all swimmers in the 100 yard breaststroke. A 400 yard freestyle relay squad of Ubertalli,
Josh Toothman,
Will Taner, and
Alexander Miao earned a first-place finish due to their 3:01.86 time.

Soodong Kim stood out on both diving boards at his last home competition, earning valuable points in both diving events.
Pietro Ubertalli was very impressive in both the 100 and 200 backstroke; it will be exciting to see how his season continues to progress since he is well ahead of where he was at this point last season", Newman added.
Newman also spoke about the progress of Xu, and the continued success of Correa. "
Haihan Xu had a breakthrough meet this weekend in both the 100 and 200 breast, while
Julian Correa is picking up where he left off last season in distance events", he concluded with.
