PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- More strong swims were had for the Cornell Big Red on day two of the Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday from the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. Twenty-one athletes competed in the red and white over four events, with multiple besting their season bests and two new program bests set.

The Big Red had three swimmers jump in the pool in Thursday morning's preliminary races for the 500 freestyle. Allie Danko was the lone qualifier for Cornell, swimming a 4:55.63 to qualify for the C-Final. Danko earned eighth in the final with a final time of 5:04.26 to earn the first point of the night for the Big Red. Erin DeHollander was slotted in the alternate spot after the preliminary, touching the wall at 7:57.87 to earn 25th overall. The freshman was followed by sophomore Jungmin Yoon, who finished 27th (4:58.46).

Two Cornellians also qualified for the finals in the 200 IM in Kate Li, who swam 0.38 faster than her seeded time to find herself in the B-Final, and freshman Hojung Yoon, who earned a spot in the C-Final by knocking almost a second off her seeded time in Thursday's morning session of qualifying races. Li would make history in the B-Final, shaving another full second off her time from the morning to climb from sixth heading into the final bell and be slotted third in the heat (2:01.10). That time is also a new program record for the sophomore, beating Sarah Baturka's record time (2:01.37) from the 2018 Ivy Championships. Yoon also had a better time in the C-Final (2:02.86) to earn fourth in the heat.

Shifting over to the fastest event of the day in the 50 freestyle, Cornell had four athletes scattered throughout the three finals, led by senior Priscilla Wongso, who qualified for the A-Final with a 22.70. The Plano, Texas native also made more history with the swim, besting her own program record (22.82) set at the 2023 Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio. Wongso would secure 24 points on the night for the Big Red in the A-Final, finishing sixth overall with a 22.77. Two of Wongso's senior classmates followed the captain in the B-Final in Emilie Boisrenoult and Anna Gruvberger. Both swimmers impressed the event's second-fastest heat, with Gruvberger grabbing third (23.17) and Boisrenoult earning a tie for fifth with Yale's Sarah Plunkett (23.27). Cornell's final swimmer to qualify for Thursday's final was senior captain Joelle Ohr, who earned eighth in the C-Final (23.68) to close out a combined 54.5-point performance by the four seniors.

The final event of a highlight-filled day came in the 200 freestyle as Gruvberger, Ohr, Boisrenoult, and Wongso each jumped on the block for the final time as a quartet in the event. Cornell would put in a good shift, as the four put together a 1:31.04 to finish fifth overall. That time is also now second in program history, falling short by four one-hundredths of a second of the time set by Wongso, Ohr, Boisrenoult, and Melissa Parker at the 2022 Zippy Invitational.

After two days of action, Cornell sits seventh overall with 261 points. Princeton leads the way with 523 points, while Harvard (422.5) and Yale (417.5) round out the podium.
