ITHACA, N.Y. - The 2024 Ivy League Champion Cornell women's ice hockey team swept major Ivy awards, and has eight players named to all-league teams.
Izzy Daniel was tabbed Player of The Year,
Annelies Bergmann was named Rookie of The Year, and Everett Family Head Coach of Women's Ice Hockey Doug Derraugh was selected as Coach of The Year. Daniel,
Grace Dwyer, and
Rory Guilday were deemed First-Team All-Ivy.
Lily Delianedis,
Karel Prefontaine, and
Ashley Messier earned Second-Team All-Ivy honors.
Deanna Fraser was recognized for her outstanding effort on and off the ice, as she was the Cornell recipient of Academic All-Ivy honors
Daniel is the first Ivy League player of the year since Lindsay Browning earned the nod in the 2019-20 season. Bergmann wins Rookie of The Year, and that marks the first time a Cornellian has taken the award since Daniel during the 2019-20 campaign. Derraugh has now been tabbed Coach of The Year five times, with his last collecting of the honors coming in the 2019-20 season.
It comes as no surprise that Daniel, Dwyer, Guilday, Delianedis, Prefontaine, Messier, Bergmann and Fraser were given All-League honors, as they all contributed The Big Red's dominance in Ivy League play. Cornell earned a 9-1 record against Ivy opponents, outscoring those teams 53-16. Cornell closed out the regular season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over defending Ivy champion Yale at Ingalls Rink to claim its 16th title in program history.
