ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell Gymnastics starts the season with an excellent showing at Rumble and Tumble on Sunday afternoon in Newman Arena hosting Yale and Bridgeport.
Yale won with the final score of 193.700, Cornell came in second with 193.150 and Bridgeport came in third with 191.850.
"It was a great first meet," head coach Melanie Hall stated after the chaos. "That was one of our highest scoring opening meets. We are very happy and proud of what we saw today from the girls."
Sydney Beers led the Big Red through every event to win the all-around title with a score of 39.125. Morgen Shambo took the uneven bars title with a score of 9.725.
VAULT
Beers and Cami Whitaker finished second and third respectively on the vault with scores of 9.775 and 9.750. Sarah Goetter made her Big Red debut on the vault and scored a 9.650.
BARS
Shambo scored a 9.725 to place first in the bars. Right behind her Beers tied for second with a score of 9.675 with Yale's Lauren Holt. Sophomore Avery Byun competed in the bars for the first time in her Cornell career and earned a score of 9.350. Dahlia Jhaveri made her Big Red debut on the bars with a 9.600.
BEAM
Beers also placed second on the beam with a 9.825 while Byun came just .025 points behind in third with a score of 9.800.
FLOOR
Beers tied for third on the floor with her best score of the day, a 9.850. Nora Sherman made her Big Red debut with a 9.400.
