The Tigers played with an edge in the opening period that allowed them to generate more shot-opportunities than the Big Red. Although Princeton led the shots-on-goal 10-5 after the first period, Cornell were the leaders on the scoreboard due to Yu making it count on a nifty pass from Perron-Roy.
Intermission adjustments were evident, as Cornell came out with an added purpose to turn the tide of the game flow. Chan potted a goal just under seven minutes into the second period to extend its lead to 2-0.
Six minutes following Cornell's second goal, Avar attempted a shot that was saved by Olnowich but regathered by Avar on the rebound who would find the back of the net on her second chance to increase Cornell's advantage. The Tigers responded 50 seconds later to cut the the score down to 3-1.
Cornell left no doubt in the final period, putting three goals on the board, one of which was a power-play tip-in from Avar, her second score of the night. Bergmann and the Big Red held the Tigers scoreless in the final stanza and skated to its largest margin of victory against Princeton since 2010.
