SACRAMENTO, Cal. – Cornell gymnastics took second in its first road competition of the 2025 season at the Sacramento State tri-meet, earning a score of 191.500 on Friday night at The Nest.
The Big Red took the win against Alaska (189.775) but fell to the host Sacramento State (194.100). Cornell is now 2-2 on the season.
Sophomore Avery Byun won the all-around title with 38.500 in her second time competing in every event. Sydney Beers finished second with an all-around score of 38.425.
BARS
Morgen Shambo tied for fourth in the bars with a team-high 9.625. The team finished with 47.350 on the first apparatus.
BEAM
Beers notched 9.650 on the beam to claim sixth. Byun and Natalia Tehrani were close behind in seventh with scores of 9.600.
FLOOR
The floor was the Big Red's highest scoring event with 48.575. Beers tied for fourth with a score of 9.775, followed by Addy Rothstein's 9.750.
VAULT
Beers led the team on the last apparatus of the night with a 9.700 to place second. Cami Whitaker (9.675) and Byun (9.575) were next up for Cornell placing fourth and seventh.
