ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team capped a demanding championship weekend with standout results while competing across three regattas, led by a top-five finish at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Finals, hosted by MIT. The Big Red also finished 14th at the Nevins Trophy at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and fifth at the David Lee Arnoff Trophy on Seneca Lake. It was Cornell's third consecutive top five finish at the ACC Women's Finals.

Cornell totaled 224 points in a national field of 18 teams at MIT, placing behind only Stanford, Harvard, Dartmouth and Brown. In A Division, senior skipper Sophia Devling sailed with freshman Paulina Freyre and sophomore Ava Stevens to record several top-five finishes, while sophomore Gilda Dondona and senior Sophia Mulvania, later joined by sophomore Kathi Keller, steered the B Division to fifth overall to anchor the Big Red's best-ever finish at the event.

At Kings Point, Cornell placed 14th of 17 at the Nevins Trophy, totaling 129 points over six races per division. Freshmen Ava Gustafson, Grace Penque, Adrianna D'Agati, and Anna Iacobucci combined for a 15th-place A Division showing, while junior Pilar Cundey and sophomore Laine Reshefsky placed 11th in B Division, earning several top-10 finishes.

On Seneca Lake, Cornell's young lineup secured fifth at the David Lee Arnoff Trophy, tallying 184 points in 11 races per division. Freshman skipper Marcus Greco teamed with Matthew Schmitt and senior Maeve Katics to record multiple top-five results and a race win in A Division, while the B Division crew of freshmen Beylen Gode and Max Lindenberg, joined by Schmitt and sophomore Vera Jacobson, sailed consistently to place 11th.

The Big Red's lone competition this week is the Open ACC Finals beginning on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Navy.
