ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team will concentrate on a single event when it heads to the Open ACC Finals beginning on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Navy. The Big Red will compete in the two-day regatta against some of the top teams in the country.
Joining the Big Red at the championship will be the host Midshipmen, as well as Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown, Charleston, Coast Guard, Dartmouth, Harvard, Hobart & William Smith, Jacksonville, MIT, Penn Roger Williams, St. Mary's (Md.), Stanford, Tulane and Yale. The field includes 10 of the top 11 and 14 of the top 16 teams in last season's Sail1Design Open Rankings.
Last fall the Big Red took 14th out of 18 teams at the Open ACC finals behind a strong effort from
Bridget Green '25 and
Amelia Neumann '25 in A Division. The best-ever finish for the program came in 2021 and 2022 when the Big Red placed 10th.
The Big Red had a trio of strong performances to cap last weekend, highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Finals at MIT - the Big Red's third straight top-five showing at the event. Cornell also placed 14th at the Nevins Trophy at Kings Point and fifth at the David Lee Arnoff Trophy on Seneca Lake.
