ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell women's basketball was picked seventh in the Ivy League Preseason Poll, the league announced Thursday, Oct. 23. The poll is voted on by two media members who cover each conference member.
The Big Red received 45 points in voting by the leagues media members. Cornell finished the 2024-25 season with a 7-20 overall and 3-11 league record, placing sixth in the final standings.
Princeton was picked to win the Ivy League championship with 163 points and 17 of 21 first-place votes. The Tigers are seeking their third title in the last four years.
Columbia (147 points, three first-place votes) was selected second, followed by Harvard (126 points, one first-place vote), Penn (106), Brown (84), Dartmouth (46), Cornell and Yale (39).
Cornell returns nine players from last season, including senior
Emily Pape who averaged 10.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per contest in 2024-25. Also returning to the Big Red are juniors
Rachel Kaus and
Clarke Jackson who averaged 9.6 and 7.1 points per game a season ago.
The Big Red open the 2025-26 season Friday, Nov. 7 when they travel to Bryant for a 6 p.m. contest in Smithfield, R.I. Cornell's Ivy League opener is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 3 against Columbia.
