"What an amazing run by our women to capture the 2025 William S. Field Invitational Tournament title. Beating UVa is a huge milestone for this team, and it is my first win against head coach Lou Lopez's women's team in my head coaching tenure. Our women played with incredible poise and patience, and Sammi showed great poise with the late goal. Naomi and Lara have also really elevated this team's play this year, and today in particular they were connecting on all cylinders. I'm so proud of all of them, and we're sure hoping this catapults us into the D1 ranks this spring."
Cornell led 5-2 after the first chukker and 10-6 at the break, but a 5-0 run in the fourth chukker put Virginia allowed the visitors to knot the score at 15-15 and 16-16 before Iahn's late goal gave Cornell the victory.
