Men's Hoops Can't Get It Going In Loss at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth raced out to a 21-2 lead and never looked back, burying Cornell 88-49 on Saturday evening at Leede Arena. The Big Red fell to 13-9 (5-4 Ivy), while the Big Green improved to 12-10 (6-3 Ivy).

From the tip, Cornell could never get anything going. The Big Red shot just 28 percent overall and hit on 3-of-27 3-pointers with 16 turnovers, trailing by as many as 45. Junior Cooper Noard was the only player in double figures with 10 points and five rebounds. Guy Ragland Jr. scored six points with four boards and both Jake Fiegen and Gio Panzini had five points apiece.

Cade Haskins led a balanced Dartmouth attacked with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Ryan Cornish posted 16 points, five assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals. Jayden Williams was the third double-figure scorer with 10 points and four boards. Brandon Mitchell-Day posted nine points, eight rebounds and five assists in the win. The Big Green shot 49 percent from the field overall and connected on 15 3-pointers. The home team held a 49-38 edge on the backboards and assisted on 27 baskets.

Cornish hit a pair of early 3-pointers to set the tone for the Big Green, who jumped out to a 9-0 lead to begin the contest and was up 21-2 seven minutes in. Cornell got within 10 points on one occasion, but the Big Green answered any basket, seemingly got every loose ball and hit dagger 3-pointers throughout the contest. Outside of a moment early in the second half where Cornell chipped away at the 26-point halftime lead (44-18), Dartmouth never played with any game pressure the final 20 minutes.
