ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell will get an early test when it visits No. 4 Syracuse on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. at the JMA Wireless Dome. The contest will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
The Big Red (1-0) come into the game on a high after claiming a season-opening win with a 14-8 victory at Jacksonville on Saturday. Both
Caitlin Slaminko (four goals, two assists) and
Ella Wilmot (three goals, three assists) had six-point efforts in the win.
Josie Vogel added a hat trick and
Dillyn Patten scored twice.
Ellie Bergin won six of the team's 10 draw controls and
Ellie Horner (two saves, three goals allowed) and
Mackenzie Clark (six saves, five goals allowed) split time in the cage.
Head coach
Jenny Graap will go for win No. 236 at Cornell (235-168) when the Big Red faces the Orange. Five of those victories have come against the Orange, though SU has won the past 16 meetings dating back to 2007. Syracuse leads the all-time series 21-5.
Syracuse is off to a 2-0 start with wins over UAlbany (21-9) and No. 7 Maryland (15-9) under fourth-year head coach Kayla Treanor. She enters Tuesday's game with a 51-15 record (.773). Both Emma Ward (6-6-12) and Olivia Adamson (7-4-11) both have double figure point totals over two contests, with Daniella Guyette posting an 8.16 goals against average and a .483 save percentage.
This will be the second of five games in the first 14 days for the Big Red and continues its three-game road swing to begin the campaign.
