Women's Tennis To Play Two Duals In Nation's Capital

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's tennis team will attempt to maintain its winning ways when it heads to the nation's capital for a pair of dual matches this coming weekend. The Big Red, winners of six of its past seven contests, will face Howard on Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at the Banneker Recreation Center, then meets Georgetown on Sunday, March 16 at 10:45 a.m. at Georgetown Prep.

The Big Red brings a 7-3 record into the weekend after its 4-0 sweep of Buffalo on March 6 at home. Head coach Katie Zordani's team will continue preparation for Ivy competition which is now two weeks away. Sophomore Michelle Ryndin sports an 8-3 overall record with a majority of her action at No. 1 singles, where she's won five straight. Senior Jenny Wong is 6-3 while playing in the middle of the lineup and as high as No. 2. Six different singles players have five or more wins this season.

The Bison enter the weekend with a 4-4 record and a 3-1 mark at home under head coach Nicholas Askew. Senior Nadia Pegram sports a 3-4 mark at No. 1 singles to lead the way for Howard.

The Hoyas bring a 6-5 record into the week with dual matches between Delaware and Stony Brook before Sunday's matchup. Head coach Freddy Mesmer's squad owns wins over Marquette, Providence and Seton Hall, among others.
