ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell senior guard
Nazir Williams has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-North Atlantic District second team it was announced today. Williams was one of seven Ivy League players named to the various all-district squads.
Williams, a three-time All-Ivy pick and a two-time second team all-conference selection, averaged 14.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists - all career highs - while shooting 51 percent from the floor, 40 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and 84 percent from the free-throw line. He scored in double figures in 13 of 14 league games, upping his numbers to 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in Ivy contests and closed his season and career by averaging 15.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists during the team's run to the Ivy League Tournament championship game.
The senior ranked seventh in the Ivy League in scoring and fifth in assists while sitting in the top 100 nationally in field goal percentage. Williams will graduate among the school's all-time leaders in scoring (11th, 1,244), assists (eighth, 310), field goals made (14th, 435), field goal percentage (20th, .486), 3-point field goals made (20th, 137), free-throw percentage (eighth, .814). In his four seasons, the Big Red went 72-41 overall (34-22 Ivy) with four appearances in the Ivy League Tournament and a trip to the 2024 postseason NIT.
Williams and his teammates completed the season with an 18-11 record and runner-up finishes in both the Ivy League regular season standings as well as the tournament. Featuring one of the top offenses in the country, Cornell paces the nation in effective field goal percentage (.592) and is second in assists (19.1), fourth in 3-pointers made per game (11.2) and sixth in scoring offense (85.1) among 355 schools ranked.
