ITHACA, N.Y. — A three-run seventh inning turned a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead for Brown (4-13, 1-3 Ivy League) as it defeated the Cornell baseball team (7-8, 2-2 Ivy League) in its home opener on a brisk Friday afternoon at Booth Field.
Mika Peterson paced the Bears offense by going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and driving in two RBI. Jack Edmunds also had a two-hit game and had a triple and RBI as Brown logged its first conference win of the season.

John Hegarty was the losing pitcher after pitching the final three innings and allowing three runs on six hits while striking out three Bears hitters.
Brown took a 2-0 lead in the third inning as an RBI double by Peterson and an RBI groundout by Chris Butera put the Bears ahead first.
Gottam settled into a groove after allowing the first two baserunners to reach safely in the bottom of the second, retiring the next 10 batters and 13 of the following 14.
Cornell would take a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning as senior infielder
Max Jensen scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded before Jaun singled two Big Red runs home on a base hit through the right side of the infield.
A leadoff single and sacrifice bunt by Brown set up four consecutive base hits, which included an RBI triple by Petersen and RBI singles by DJ Dillehay and Edmunds that put the Bears ahead 5-3.
A sacrifice fly by Quatrani trimmed the Bears' lead to 5-4, but Brown was able to limit Cornell's offense to just one baserunner over the final two innings as senior center fielder
Jakobi Davis drew a one-out walk in the eighth inning.
