ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's rowing team will open up its Spring campaign against Boston University and Colgate University on the Cayuga Inlet. The first women's boat is slated to take the water at 8:00 a.m. during the first round, with round two wrapping up at 2:00 p.m. at the Cornell Rowing Center.

"I'm proud of the work and intensity the team maintained throughout the winter and what that is going to mean for our speed potential this spring.  The team has worked their butts off over the winter and gotten a lot stronger and I think that is going to lead to a nice change in speed for us.", Steve Coppola, the Staley Head Coach of Women's Rowing stated.

The Big Red took the water last week for a scrimmage against Duquesne, and Coppola was pleased with what he saw out of his rowers. "Results had Cornell Winning all of their head to head racing.  A second round of racing happened where we lined up all of the 8's straight across and all of the 4's straight across for some starting 2 minute pieces. It was a great morning where both crews got to try out early season lineups ahead of their respective regular seasons.", he mentioned.

"They've been real committed to improving their strength and fitness. It's a real positive and upbeat group that is ready for the demanding challenges of spring racing.", Coppola added.
